While many places focus on the accomplisments of Lincoln, Lincoln's Cottage gives you insight to Lincoln as a father, husband, and person struggling with major decisions of a country at war.

You must get a tour to go into the cottage. The tour has video/audio in the rooms where Lincoln met people/discussed topics. Our guide was wonderful and kept all four kids engaged, which is not easy to do.

We learned about the joys/sadness Lincoln faced as a family man, outside of the stress of leading a country torn by civil war.
